Prescence of Mind

1. A person was sentenced death by some court of law, that has a very peculiar way of doing justice. After the person is being sentenced to death he is given a chance on the basis of his luck. The way is by choosing a slip from two, on which its written either Life or Death. The chosen slip gives him whats written within it. It so happens that some of his enemy changes the slip with script LIFE with another slip with DEATH. Now that very person knows about it. He did something to avoid that certain death and succeeded. What could he had done??
He swallowed the slip he chose. Now when the other slip was checked it contained DEATH so the executor will no doubt suppose the slip he swallowed contained LIFE.

Going about the logic, as he knows that both the slips contain DEATH for him, if he somehow finds a way that the slip he chooses is determined by the other remaining slip without opening the slip he has chosen. Then as the other slip contains death , the slip he has will certainly contain LIFE as conceived by others. So he can be set free.

2. Why is it better to have round manhole covers compared to square manhole covers?
A square manhole cover can fall into the cover through the diagnol , as the diagnol length is greater than the sides. But a round manhole cover can never fall into the manhole

3. You want to send a valuable object to a friend securely. You have a box which can be fitted with multiple locks. However, your friend does not have any keys to your locks, and if you send a key ,there is a danger of theft. How can you send the object securely?
Put the valuable in the box, lock it, send it across to your friend. Tell the friend to lock it over again with his lock and send back to you. When you receive it back , remove your lock and send it back to him.

4. If you put a coin in an empty bottle and insert a cork into the neck of the bottle, how could you remove the coin without taking the cork out or breaking the bottle?
Hahahaha…. Push the cork inside the bottle and now take the coin out.

  1. there was one more reason for manholes covers to be round because when they had to transport them, it was very difficult to transport square ones than the round ones because of easy motion..

    there are many reasons for the manholes to be round like
    ->Round tubes are the strongest and most material-efficient shape against the compression of the earth around them, and so it is natural that the cover of a round tube assume a circular shape.
    ->The bearing surfaces of manhole frames and covers are machined to assure flatness and prevent them from becoming dislodged by traffic.
    ->Round castings are much easier to machine using horizontal boring mills.
    ->Circular covers do not need to be rotated to align them when covering a circular manhole.
    ->Human beings have a roughly circular cross-section.
    ->A round manhole cover can be more easily moved by being rolled.
    ->If an automobile rolls over a dislodged manhole of another shape, the sharp corners could puncture the automobile’s tire, whereas a circle doesn’t have corners.

    and a round one cannot fall through the hole it fits into, where as a square one could fall through diagonally 🙂
