I peel layers like onions,
but still remain whole.
I can be long,
like a flagpole,
yet fit in a hole.
What am I?

Answer : Snake.
Looks like bacon, born as an egg
without the leg but just backbone.
Sheds skin like onion.
Could long but lives in holes.
