Vandal Puzzle – The Ug and The Mug
Two vandals, Ug and Mug, attack a shop window made of a single pane of glass. Whenever Ug strikes a piece of glass, it breaks into 7 pieces. Whenever Mug strikes a piece of glass, it breaks into 10 pieces.
Now the big question:
Is there some combination of strikes by the two vandals that will result in there being exactly 2000 pieces of glass?

the number of glass pieces will remain odd always ( 1 in the beginning , +6 if ug breaks it , +10 if mug)

dude, when you break a glass, it breaks in 10 pieces (or 7). so it can be odd or even.
but answer is correct. it can never be put as 2000. since breaking in 10 is +9 and breaking in 7 is +6, any no obtain can only be 3k+1 (2000 is 3k+2)
